Jscrambler Alternative

A Jscrambler alternative for teams that need JavaScript obfuscation, not a security platform

Jscrambler is a client-side security platform: code protection plus third-party script monitoring, payment-page governance, dashboards and a sales-led rollout. If what you actually need is to protect your own JavaScript before you publish it, a self-serve obfuscator with published prices may be the shorter path. Here is how to tell which one you need.

Pricing, Side By Side

Quote-based vs published

Jscrambler’s pricing page lists no prices; plans are quoted through sales, with a free trial. JavaScript Obfuscator publishes every plan.

Basic$29 / month
Corporate · Enterprise$49 · $99 / month
Stay With Jscrambler If

You need the platform, not just the obfuscator

  • Third-party script monitoring. Jscrambler’s Webpage Integrity inventories and controls scripts you did not write; an obfuscator only protects the code you ship.
  • Payment-page governance and compliance programs, such as PCI DSS v4 work on checkout pages.
  • Runtime dashboards and managed operations watched by a vendor.
  • A sales-assisted enterprise rollout is what your procurement process expects.
Consider An Alternative If

You need to protect your own JavaScript, on your terms

  • You want to see the price first. Plans are published, monthly, cancel any time.
  • You want to try it today. The online tool needs no account; the CLI’s free options need none either, and run on your own machine.
  • Your code lives in pages. The Windows desktop app protects JavaScript inside HTML, PHP, ASP, ASPX and JSP in place.
  • You ship from CI. An npm CLI and a GitHub Actions workflow generator fit the build you already have.
Capabilities

What overlaps and what does not

“Partial” is how our own CLI’s --competitor-gap-report classifies these areas against runtime suites — present, but narrower than a dedicated platform.

Switching

How to evaluate a switch without risking production

  1. Protect a copy of your current build. Use the unprotected bundle your build produces before Jscrambler runs.
  2. Start from a preset. Balanced is a reasonable starting point; the online tool shows which options each preset turns on and the plan each one needs.
  3. Keep the names you must. Public APIs, framework hooks and keys read from JSON need exclusion rules, as they did before.
  4. Run your tests against the protected copy and compare bundle size and start-up time.
  5. Check your Content-Security-Policy if you enable the Compressor or runtime defences; both use dynamic evaluation.
Protect a build in CI; the free options need no account
npm install --save-dev javascriptobfuscator-com
npx javascriptobfuscator-com --preset free \
  --input dist --output dist-protected

# when your plan includes their options:
# --preset balanced or --preset maximum

Coming from obfuscator.io or JS-Confuser instead? The CLI converts those configurations directly — see migrating from obfuscator.io.

Frequently Asked

Jscrambler alternative questions

Is there a free alternative to Jscrambler?

For obfuscation, yes: the online tool needs no account and previews every option on samples up to 32 KB, and the npm CLI runs the free options on your own machine with no account. Open-source javascript-obfuscator and JS-Confuser are free too. None of them replaces Jscrambler’s third-party script monitoring or managed client-side security.

How much does Jscrambler cost?

Jscrambler does not list prices on its pricing page; plans are quoted through sales, and a free trial is offered. JavaScript Obfuscator publishes its plans: Free, Basic $29, Corporate $49 and Enterprise $99 per month.

When is Jscrambler the better choice?

When the main requirement is payment-page governance, monitoring of third-party scripts (Webpage Integrity), runtime dashboards, compliance programs such as PCI DSS v4, or a sales-assisted enterprise rollout.

Can I test before switching?

Yes. Protect a copy of your current build with the online tool or the CLI, run your test suite against the protected copy, and compare size and start-up time before changing anything in production.
